Given:

• Amount of time taken by Vineeta = 8/9 hrs
• Amount of time taken by Sudha = 3/5 hrs

To find :

Who worked longer and by what fraction.

Solution :

Comparison :

LCM of the denominators = 9 × 5 = 45

$\\ \frac{8}{9} = \frac{40}{45}$

$\\ \frac{3}{5} = \frac{27}{45}$

$\\ \sf \: since \: \frac{40}{45} > \frac{27}{45} \: i.e \: \frac{8}{9} > \frac{3}{5}$

Therefore, Vineeta worked longer and by :

$\\ \frac{40 - 27}{45} = \bf \frac{13}{45}$
