NCERT class 11 says
The alkaline earth metals, in general ,are silvery white,lustrous and relatively SOFT BUT HARDER than the alkali metals

WHAT DOES THIS SOFT BUT HARDER MEAN HERE

Alkali metals ... that means alkali metals are soft than alkaline earth

metals ....

Alkali metals are very soft ...that's why alkaline metals are harder than alkali metals...
