THE ANSWER IS AS FOLLOWS;
- Front of car A facing the front of car B - Moves towards each other
- Rear of car A facing the front of car B - Move away from each other.
- Car A placed behind Car B - Moves away from each other.
- Rear of car B facing the rear of car A - Moves towards each other.
EXPLANATION
- The above problem is taken from the chapter 'Magnets'.
- In the above experiment, two toy cars are taken and on the top of the cars bar magnets are fixed with a help of a rubber band.
- The question is based upon two of the unique properties of the magnet, that is; Repulsion and Attraction.
- Rule of attraction is defined as the property of the magnets in which two magnets move towards each other when opposite poles of magnets are kept facing towards each other.
- In option (1) The south pole of magnet kept on the front of car and the north pole of magnet is kept on front of car B. The opposite poles of the magnet attract each other causing the cars to move toward each other.
- In option (4) The rear of car has south pole and rear of car A has north pole. The magnets attract each other causing the toys to move towards each other.
- Repulsion is defined as the property of the magnet in which magnets move away from each when the similar poles are kept facing each other.
- Therefore in option (2) Rear of car A - North pole, and Front of car B - North Pole. Magnet repul from each other. Cars move away from each other.
- In option (3) Front of A - South pole, Rear of car B - South pole. Magnets repel each other. Moves away from each other.
