When an object is immersed in water, it experiences an upward force which is known as BOUYANT force. This force is exerted by a liquid on any object. The tendency of a liquid to exert this force is known as BOUYANCY ( or upfloatation)

whenever an object is immersed in a liquid , either partially or fully , an upward force is exerted on the object by the liquid, This upward force is called upthrust or buoyant force or force of buoyancy an the property of the fluid to which the upthrust is exerted on the object is called buoyancy.
