a) Test Solution - Turmeric Powder

(i) Effect on Red litmus paper - No change

(ii) Effect on Blue Litmus paper - Colour changes to Red

(iii) Inference - Turmeric has a yellow tint and is acidic in nature. When turmeric paste is introduced to an acidic solution, it does not modify the pH of the solution. The acidic solution is yellow in hue. The yellow hue of the turmeric paste turns to red when it is put to the basic solution due to the neutralising process.

b) Test Solution - Lime

(i) Effect on Red litmus paper - Colour changes to Blue

(ii) Effect on Blue litmus paper - No change

(iii) Inference - The litmus test is used to determine a substance's nature. A basic material turns red litmus blue, while an acidic substance turns blue litmus red. Lime Water is basic in nature thus it undergoes a neutralisation reaction with red litmus paper to change it's colour.
