To survive in a desert the cactus has the following adaptations-
i) It has long roots that go deep in the soil for absorbing water .
ii) It leaves are turned into spins which prevent the water loss through transpiration.
iii) The stem is also covered with a thick waxy layer that helps to retain water.
iv) The flat green stem stores water and prepare the food for the plant by the process of photosynthesis.
