There are many benefits associated with building huge dams. But there are also certain bad impacts on the environment. A large reservoir is required for a large dam and consequently thousands of acres of lands will be submerged along with the flora and fauna of that place. So biodiversity will be lost. Many aquatic animals won't be able to migrate due to the stoppage of the flow of water. They might die due to shortage of food. It will also affect the rainfall pattern of that area. There are many adverse effect like these on the environment.
