While doing the experiment the beaker kept near the outermost part of the flame(by Ramesh) will get heated in a shorter time. This is because the outermost part of the flame which is blue in colour is the hottest part as here complete combustion takes place . In this zone wax paper gets sufficient oxygen from the air . Due to complete burning no residue is left on the object that comes in contact with this zone. While the yellow part of the candle is not that hot as the outermost part of the candle. Here incomplete combustion takes place.

Answer:

The water heated by Ramesh will get heated in a shorter time because he kept his beaker near the hottest zone of the flame. On other hand Abida kept the beaker in the yellow part of the candle flame, which is less hotter than blue part.

optional answer

The water in the Ramesh's beaker will heat up in a shorter time. This is because the outermost zone of a flame is the hottest zone in which the complete combustion is taking place, while the yellow zone (in which Abida had kept the beaker) is less hot as this is the middle zone which is the zone of partial combustion so it is less hotter than the outermost zone.
