Why does the narrator hesitate to be a partner to Laura Hinkle during the Ouija Board Party?

The ghost had told the narrator that she would help him with plots for his stories only if he got his relatives and other acquaintances do not use of Ouija boards anymore. He knew that the ghost would be terribly angry with him if he himself indulged in the use of these boards. Also he didn't like the flirtatious attitude of Laura Hinkle. So he hesitates to be a partner to Laura Hinkle during the Ouija board party.
