The near point of the eye is the closest point you can put the object while still getting a clear image on the retina. For the ideal youngish eye not in need of glasses, that's about 20 cm. And the far point is the furthest you can put the object - ideally that's infinity. Adding a lens just moves both of those distances in or out. No images of interest ever get formed at either of those points.
