Question: A positive point charge of mass m is released in a uniform electric field E directed along the x axis. Refer the diagram & answer these questions:
a) Find the acceleration of the positive charge q & state if it is uniform or non uniform?
b) Find the final velocity of the charge after having a displacement x.
c) Find its kinetic energy.

I know its lengthy but I need it. ^^"

Answer:

Correct option is

A

2m

q

2

E

2

t

2

initial velocity u=0,

acceleration a=qE/m,

time t=t,

final velocity v=?

by v=u+at, we get

v=0+(

m

qE

)t

orv=

m

qEt

so the final kinetic energy is

K(t)=

2

1

m(

m

qEt

)

2

⇒K(t)=

2m

q

2

E

2

t

2

Hence,

option (A) is correct answer.

ᴄᴏRRᴇᴄᴛ OᴘᴛɪON ➣ ⓐ

→Initial velocity u=0,

→acceleration a= qE/m,

→time t=t,

→final velocity v=?

By v=u+at, we get

v=0+(qE/m)T

or v = qEt/m

So, the final kinetic energy is

K(t)=½m(qEt\m)2

⇒K(t)= q²E²t²/2m
