My cousin brother Mohan is my role model. He is extremely talented and helpful. He goes out of his way to help people. I hope I can also cultivate some of the good qualities that he has.
An inter school essay writing competition was going to be held in the Public School on the occasion of teacher's day. Actually every year on teacher's day we have an inter school competition in some school or the other. It can be an elocution, debate, music, dance or essay writing competition.
There was a preliminary essay writing test in our school. Mohan passed in that and was chosen as one of the representatives from our school. So he had to prepare for the final competition. He started preparing a week in advance. He went to the library and collected points for his essay. He also asked his uncle and father to give him ideas for the topic.
Every morning he used to get up early and sit in the garden and think about the details that could be included in the essay. He would write a rough essay and reframe it so that it would sound better and be grammatically correct. The morning air helped him to think better and he would get a lot of new ideas.
On the day of the competition he was fully prepared and felt confident. He reached the venue 15 minutes early. So that he could settle down properly and be ready to write the essay with a composed mind. The other participants also arrived soon. There was a lot of excitement. Each one was eager to do his best. The bell rang. They went and sat in the hall. The teacher came and distributed the papers and wished them good luck. There was pin drop silence. Each one started writing his essay. Time just flew. Mohan completed the essay in time and even went through it once. The bell rang and it was time to submit their papers.
The results were to be announced the next day. Everyone eagerly waited for them. When Mohan reached school the next day he was welcomed by a group of students who congratulated him on his success. The principal called him to the office and told him to accompany him to the Public School for the prize distribution.
Mohan won the first prize. It was a cash prize of Rs. 10,000. There is a orphanage near our school. We often go there to do social work. He donated the money to the institution.
