↪The Story is based on the pre as well as the post war times . it recounts how the narrator after the war ; losing her mother , returns to claim her belongings from Mrs.Dorling ; one of her acquaintance.
⏪THE " Stored Stuff " here refers to all the precious belongings of her mother . The Narrator seems to be initially scared ; scared of being confronted by things that would rewind her memory , the sweet days she spent with her mother . And this would give her nothing but pain as her mother was no more now .
So, she seemed to be afraid of confronting her Past.
