1) The elements of second period of modern periodic table are given below: Li,
Be, B, C, N, O, F. Give a reason to explain why atomic radii decreases from Li
to F.

2. When the gases sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide mix in the presence of
water, the reaction is
SO2 + 2H2S -> 2H20 + 3S. here hydrogen sulphide is acting as
(a) An oxidizing agent (b) A reducing agent
(c) A dehydrating agent (d) A catalyst

3. Which of the following statement (s) about the Modern Periodic Table are
incorrect

(i) The elements in the Modern Periodic Table are arranged on the basis of
their decreasing atomic number

(ii) The elements in the Modern Periodic Table are arranged on the basis of
their increasing atomic masses

(iii) Isotopes are placed in adjoining group (s) in the Periodic Table

(iv) The elements in the Modern Periodic Table are arranged on the basis of
their increasing atomic number
(a) (i) only
(b) (i), (ii) and (iii)
(c) (i), (ii) and (iv)
(d) (iv) only

Answer:

1. since the number of shells in all these elements is same but the number of atoms keeps increasing so the nuclear force gets stronger hence the size decreases from Li to F.

2.

Explanation:

it acts as a reducing agent because the oxygen atom is removed from sulphur which means reduction of sulphur has taken place.

3.option (I) only
