Given : L is parallel to y=2x.

To Find : Write an equation for line L in point-slope form and slope-intercept form

Solution:

Point-slope  form y-y₁=m(x-x₁)

 slope-intercept form   y = mx +b.

intercept form (x/a) + (y/b) = 1

y = 2x

=> y - y₁ = 2(x - x₁)  Point-slope  form

y = 2x + c   slope-intercept form

equation for line L in point-slope form and slope-intercept form.

L is perpendicular to y=5x

slope = -1/5

=> y - y₁ = (-1/5)(x - x₁)  Point-slope  form

y = (-1/5)x + c   slope-intercept form
