In an election among three contestants P,Q and R, P gets 120% more votes than Q. P beats R by 3,50,000 votes. Q beats R by 5% of the total votes. What is the total number of votes?

Let Q secures 100 votes; => P = 220

Let R secures x votes

By supposition,

0.05(320+x) = 100-x

=>x = 80

If 400 are the total votes P beats R by 140 votes

Therefore, total number of votes = (400*350000)/140 = 1,000,000.
