a. Degree is the highest power on a variable of a given expression,

Here, highest power is x^{3}

So, degree of this polynomial is 3

b. Using, algebraic identity, we can expand (a+b)^{2}, i.e -

(a+b)^{2\\}\\a^{2} +b^{2} \\(a+b) (a-b)\\a^{2} +ab+ba+b^{2} \\\\a^{2} +2ab+b^{2}

∴ (a+b)² = a²+2ab+b²
