The given diagram can also be modified as given in attachment.

Let R1 , R2 , R be the resistance between A and C, C and D, A and D , respectively.

 \frac{1}{r1} = \frac{1}{20} + \frac{1}{5} \\ \\ \frac{1}{r1} = \frac{1 + 4}{20} \\ \\ \frac{1}{r1} = \frac{5}{20} \\ \\ r1 = 4 \: ohm

 \frac{1}{r2} = \frac{1}{20} + \frac{1}{5} \\ \\ \frac{1}{r2} = \frac{1 + 4}{20} \\ \\ \frac{1}{r2} = \frac{5}{20} \\ \\ r2 = 4 \: ohm

Since R1 and R2 are in series.

Total resistance = R1 + R2

= 4 + 4

= 8 ohm
