Improvement on land administration services is a challenge faced by every country like Nepal. This paper aims to evaluate the status of good governance in the land administration system of Nepal. The concept and definition of land administration and good governance and the basic principles, values and significance of good land governance are discussed first. Then, a brief overview of the historical development of land administration system in Nepal and the structure and role of land administration organizations is presented. Finally, the status of good land governance in Nepal is discussed and a conclusion is drawn from the study. Fast registration process, transparent land laws and regulations, provision of public hearing and Citizen Charter and establishment of public account authority are some of the strengths of the land administration system. On the other hand, complex procedure, paper-based system, ineffective reward and punishment system, lack of integrated land policy, political interference, corruption, land administration organizations located far from the rural areas, no guarantee of registered title are its main problems. Thus, the status of land governance can be improved by making the procedures simple, digitizing land records and providing electronic services, improving the reward and punishment system, formulating integrated land policy, reducing the political interference and corruption, providing land administration services from the local level and improving the registration system.
