Coal and oil (also known as Fossil fuels) formed from degradation of biomass, several million years ago, are limited resources and will get exhausted after few more years.

 

They should be used judiciously as they are scarce resources. Another reason being that when such fuels are burned, they release sulphur dioxide, carbon dioxide and other gases which pollute the air. This causes breathing problems for living creatures and is also a cause for acid rain.
