Answer:

angle A = angle B ( alternate interior angles )

5x - 18° = 3x + 42°

or, 5x - 3x = 42° + 18°

or, 2x = 60°

or, x = 60/2 = 30°

5x - 18° = 5(30) - 18° = 150-18 = 132° ( angle A )

3x + 42° = 3(30) + 42° = 90+42 = 132° ( angle B )

Answer:

x = 30 & ∠A = 132

Step-by-step explanation:

By observing the figure we can understand that ∠A & ∠B are alternate exterior angles which are always equal.

so, we can equate both of the equations of ∠A & ∠B to find the value of x.

i.e ∠A = ∠B

=> 5x - 18 = 3x + 42

=> 5x - 3x = 42 + 18

=> 2x = 60

=> x = 30

By substituting x value in equation of ∠A we get the value of angle A.

=> ∠A = 5x - 18

=> ∠A = 5(30) - 18

=> ∠A = 150 - 18

=> ∠A = 132°
