Given:

• Neelam's mother's present age is six times Neelam's present age.

• Neelam's age five year from now will be the one third of her mother's present age.

To find:

Their present ages.

Solution:

Let us assume that the present age of Neelam and his mother be x and 6x.

From the question,we have

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {(x + 5) =  \frac{1}{3}  \times 6x} \\

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {x + 5 = 2x}

 \sf \rightsquigarrow \:  \: {x = 5}

 \therefore \sf{ \: Present \: age \: of \: Neelam = x = 5yrs}

\sf{ \: Present \: age \: of \: Neelam's \: mother = 6x =(5 \times 6 )= 30yrs.}
