Let Neethi age be 'x' and Preethi age be 'y' years.

Since, the sum of their current ages is 28.

Therefore, x+y = 28

x = 28 - y (Equation 1)

According to the question,

Neethi told preethi, I am five times as old as you were when i was as old as you are now.

So, x = 5(y-(x-y))

x = 5(y-x+y)

x = 5(2y-x)

x = 10y - 5x

So, 10y - 6x = 0 (Equation 2)

Putting value of 'x' from equation 1 in equation 2.

10y-6(28-y) = 0

10y -168  + 6y = 0

16y = 168

y = 10.5

Since, x + y =28

x = 28-10.5

x = 17.5

So, Neethi's age is 17.5 years and Preethi's age is 10.5 years.
