Negative effect and positive effect of colonialism in indian education
Answers
POSITIVE EFFECTS
Sense of Nationalism and Unity.
Long before independence, Indians didn't considered something that they belong to a single nation. But when we united to fight back the colonial ppl then NATIONALISM was the central winning strategy, coz if we have civil disruption inside then how could we fight against the outsiders.
2. Transportation and Communication.
Introduction to the new ways of transportation like the paced up transports - railway, unlike the slow one bullock carts or horse carts. It increased the supply of food or important resources to far places within less time. The arrival of telephones played a major role here in connecting India as a whole, though there were few telephones at that time, but it sowed the seed of today's modern era communication.
3. Education.
No words to explain how education helps. Coz if I start to write the needs of educate n literacy then quora team would certainly meet me.
4. Women Empowerment.
Women played a big role in fights against the colonials. They have a major role too like men - Sarojini Naidoo is an example. So when these women came at par with men then obviously they got empowered.
Colonials did a very good work in the case of women empowerment by abolishing sati prathas,by supporting Raja Ram Mohan Roy.
**The exposure of the Indians to the outside world crested a different way of living n thinking, enhancing their thought process n knowledge of everything, most importantly getting exposed to EXPERIENCES.
* NEGATIVE EFFECTS
Cracks in Hindu - Muslim togetherness.
The main trouble starts here, which gave rise to the partition of India and Pakistan,in Morley - Minto Reform, popularly known as the Indian Councils Act 1909. A/c to this act, now an idea of separate constituencies, reserved for Muslims was introduced. Now this was the first time when there existed a feeling of Hindu - Muslim being separate religions, and obviously the birth of today's Hindu Muslim communal riots also.
