Shylock has a wicked and bloodthirsty nature. We can see this side of Shylock when he proposed to give loan to Bassanio on the condition that if Bassanio's best friend ,Antonio was unable to pay the loan on time then he had the right to take one pound of flesh from Antonio's body as he hated christians and specially Antonio as he was his business rival.

Positive Side of Shylock :

Although Shylock is a bad person, it seems that he loved his wife very much.

This could be seen when his daughter Jessica stole all the jewels in which one of the jewel was the ring given to him by his wife Leah , he felt sad for losing the ring.
