The mirror used by a dentist is CONCAVE MIRROR.

NATURE-:

A concave mirror is used to form virtual , upright and magnified images, when the object is positioned within focal point and pole of mirror. This property of concave mirror makes it useful for dentists to view magnified images of tooth and cavity etc.

USE-:

Dentists use concave mirrors to see teeth and other areas in mouth.

The mirror is a concave mirror.

It is used to get a magnified reflection of the mouth without inverting the image . We know when the object is kept between the pole and the focus of the concave mirror it is enlarged , erect and virtual - the image is formed behind the mirror and is magnified and we get to see the reflection.

This is the principle involved in using concave mirror in the dentist's instrument.

Hope this helps you
