let non damaged glass be x
and damaged glass be y
hence
x + y = 50
3 rupees for each glass and 2 rupees due for broken one
Hence
3x - 2y = 90
Multiply first equation by 2 and add both equations
We get
5x=190

x=38
Hence broken glasses are
50-38=12

12 glasses were broken on the way.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

neha wants swati to deliver a box containing 50 glasses to her friends house . neha promises to pay swati rupees 3 for every glass she delivers and fine her rupees 2 for every glass she breaks.

Let swati delivered x glasses.

The number of glasses broken is 50-x.

Thus,

3x-2(50-x)=90

3x-100+2x=90

5x-100=90

5x=190

x=38

She delivered 38 glasses out of 50.

Number of broken glasses = 50-38=12

Hence, 12 glasses were broken on the way.
