I will suggest her to burn both fibres on a candle.

If the fibres are artificial/synthetic they will give pungent smell or will shrink as soon as they come in the contact of fire. If the fibres are natural they will not give a pungent smell. If the natural fiber is animal fibre we will see that this fibre burns similarly like hair. And if the natural fibre is plant fibre we will see that this fiber burns like papers. So I will suggest this activity.
