After the end of world war 2 the world divided into two power blocs which is Capitalism and Socialism led by USA and USSR respectively.

After world war 2 many countries got its indipandence and they don't want to join either of the blocs because it may bring threat to the newly independent countries. As the indipandence was hard earned . So the countries who didn't joined either of the blocs joined NAM (Non Alignment Movement) . The countries who joined USA are known as First World Countries , USSR are Second and rest are Third .
