Nehru has described his interesting incidents with animals during his years in prison.  He was like a student doing research on the behaviour of animals and liked caring for pet animals.   During his prison life, he met snakes, squirrels, cats and birds like cuckoo, eagles etc.   During his stint in Dehradun jail he kept a pet cat which shows his concern for animals.
