Nelson Mandela, the first President of independent South Africa, used the words extraordinary human disaster to refer to the system of racial discrimination or Aparthied which was extensively practiced in South Africa. The blacks had to suffer from deprivation, discrimination and poverty. According to him, it was such a dreadful system the wound of which couldn't be cured so easily. He refers to the independence of South Africa as so glorious human achievement. After a long struggle, the blacks got equal rights. Many people even sacrificed their lives for the sake of their country and their sacrifice certainly didn't go into vain. Finally, South Africa was free from all sort of discrimination.
