Nelson solved the algebraic equation 3(2x+5)=17 as shown below:
3(2x+5)=17
3(2x+5)-5=17-5
3(2x)=12
6x=12
6x÷6=12÷6
x=2 describe and correct the error Nelson made.

multiplication will be done at first

Nelson had done an error in the 3 and 4 line where he had first subtracted and then he multiplied the equation in the bracket with the no. outside the bracket .

therefore the equation has to solve like this

3 ( 2x+5) =17

6x+15 = 17

6x=17-15

x = 2/6

x=1/3
