Nelson solved the algebraic equation 3(2x+5)=17 as shown below:
3(2x+5)=17
3(2x+5)-5=17-5
3(2x)=12
6x=12
6x÷6=12÷6

Answer:
According to BODMAS ,
multiplication will be done at first
Nelson had done an error in the 3 and 4 line where he had first subtracted and then he multiplied the equation in the bracket with the no. outside the bracket .
therefore the equation has to solve like this
3 ( 2x+5) =17
6x+15 = 17
6x=17-15
x = 2/6
x=1/3
