Explanation: They both are noble gases. They do not form bonds unless the gases are ionized or under high pressure. In an experiment where these gases are used without making any of these changes to the atoms, both neon and helium will take no part in the reaction. If neon, or any other noble gas was used, to form compounds, atoms from the halogen series will bond the best.

A property of neon, if that's all you want, is that it can be used in neon lights.
