The various benefits are:

  • The nephrons are the main functional units responsible for production of urine. During urine formation, the nephrons selectively reabsorb huge amount of water, ions and molecules like glucose, etc.

  • This helps in concentration of urine, so that excessive amount of water is not lost along with urine.

  • Instead , the water absorbed during urine formation can go back to increase the volume of blood and maintain the adequate blood pressure.

  • The various mechanisms by which urine is concentrated are : 1. COUNTER CURRENT MULTIPLIER 2. COUNTER CURRENT EXCHANGER .
