■ Neptune's thin atmosphere is made up of gases, mostly hydrogen, helium and methane.
■ The methane present in Neptune's upper atmosphere absorbs the bright red light emited the sun but reflects back the blue light back from the Sun back into outer space.
■ This is why Neptune appears to have a blue tint.
