Nerissa is Portia's lady-in-Waiting and her companion.
She seems to serve As a foil to her mistress. Portia shares all her anxiety and troubles with her. Nerissa undersatnds Portia's nature well.
When she finds pPortia in a state of sadness she tries to sooth her troubled mind by pointing out that portia Has every reason to feel happy because of her Good fortune.
Nerrisa too is a witty woman. She makes Some wise remarks,to easy down Portia's Trouble.
