A lake is an area of water that has land all around it. It may be so small that we call it a pond, or it may be so wide that
we cannot see the other side. The largest lake in the world is Lake Superior in North America. It covers more than
82,000 square kilometers, and in one place it is 563 km wide! The water in lakes mostly comes from rain It runs off the
land into the rivers and streams that pour into the lake .Sometimes there are no streams or rivers pouring water into the
lake; the water comes from underground springs. All these lakes are called natural lakes. Sometimes part of a river ma
become a lake or people may make a new lake by building a dam. Such lakes are called man made lakes.
