King cobra builds nest to lay eggs and protect them until they hatch. It can lay about 40 eggs at a time.
Female cobra builds the nest. Male cobra does not show any participation in building or guarding the nest.
She build her nest with leaves, stem, weeds and other loose and rotting vegetation that is found on the ground by pushing them with her head.
When all her eggs are placed inside the nest, she covers them with more leaves to hide the eggs. This will also help provide heat to eggs as the leaves decompose. The cobra then sits on top of the nest to guard her eggs.
