In 1942, he earned the title 'Netaji', in Germany by the Indian soldiers of the Azad Hind Fauj. Bose is credited with the very famous slogan, “Give me blood, and I shall give you freedom!” as well as “Jai Hind”
He provided leadership to the Indian National Army after he went to Japan in 1943. Subhas Chandra Bose also founded the Provisional Government of Free India at Singapore on 21 October 1943. The government was recognised by nine governments including Germany, Italy, Japan and Myanmar.
An investigative report by Japanese government titled "Investigation on the cause of death and other matters of the late Subhas Chandra Bose" was declassified on 1 September 2016. It concluded that Bose died in a plane crash in Taiwan on 18 August 1945.
