Neurospora is used as a biological tool to understand the mechanism of plant genetics by the scientists. It is because of the following reasons :

(a) It is haploid so recessive traits can be studied.

(b) A lot of information is available about its genome.

© As a result of sexual reproduction, it produces 8 ascospres which show a specific arrangement. This helps to study recombination.
