Here are some examples of techniques used to reduce friction, to curb energy loss:
1)Use of streamlining which helps to reduce resistance, by fluids like air and water, to moving objects.
2)Use of lubricants, such as graphite, that make moving parts slide over each other easily.
3)Using ball bearings that roll over moving parts, lowering the friction.
4)Using alloys in moving parts, since alloys have less friction coefficient values.
5)Reduction of regularities on surfaces by methods such as polishing and using powders.
6)Use of acoustic sound as a lubricant.

Friction is the force , which opposes the relative motion between the two surfaces in contact.
New methods being adopted to reduce friction:
1. Use of Lubricants:
The parts of machines which are moving over one another must be properly lubricated by using oil and grease.
2. Use of ball bearing :
In machine where possible, sliding friction can be replaced by rolling friction
by using ball bearings.
3. Streamlining:
Friction can Be reduced by changing the design of fast moving objects. The front of vehicles and aeroplanes made to overcome fluid friction.
4. By making the surface Smooth:
Friction can be reduced by making surfaces smooth.
