Full Explanation-

John Newland was English scientist, who arranged the elements according to their increasing atomic mass. He identified that every eighth element have similar property of that first element. This observation is known as Laws of Octaves. Similarly known as Newland Law of Octaves.

Many limitations of Newland arrangements of elements-

  1. It was found that law of Octaves is only applicable upto Ca (calcium), after calcium every eighth element does not have similar property of that first element.
  2. It was assumed that there is only 56 element present in nature and Newland predicted that no other elements would discover later, but later many others elements were discovered.
  3. In order to fit element, Newland adjusted two elements in same slot of different properties, such as calcium (Ca) and nichel(Ni).
