Independence Day celebrated

MUMBAI, August 16 : The sixty-first Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm all over the country on the 15th of August. At Mantralaya the Chief Minister hoisted the National Flag. Planes flew overhead releasing powders of saffron, white and green to form the three colours of our National Flag. The Chief Minister in his speech mentioned the crisis the country was facing and cautioned every Indian to be alert in this hour of need. The mood, everywhere, however, was upbeat, and the sense of rejoicing was almost palpable. After the speech, a group of students sang patriotic songs, and some others put up short plays on various social issues.
