Every object uniform motion , remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

example

if a ball is thrown it will go in the same direction and speed until acted upon by an unbalanced force such as gravity which will bring to the floor.

EXAMPLE: When a motor car makes a sharp turn at a high speed ,we tend to get thrown to one side . This can again be explained on the basis of the law of inertia .We tend to continue in our straight line motion . When an unbalanced force is applied by the engine to change the direction of motion of the motor car, we move to one side of the seat due to the inertia of our body.

:i. when a bus starts suddenly passenger tend to move backward.

ii. the mangoes will get ditatched from its stack when the branches are shaken

⟹ Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. It may be seen as a statement about inertia, that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion.

Examples :-

  • Stone on the ground.
  • Runner countiue to run several distance even after he stops
  • After a brakes applied, passenger shoots forward due to inertia.
