Newton's First Law states that an object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an external force. It may be seen as a statement about inertia, that objects will remain in their state of motion unless a force acts to change the motion.

the concept is that is you will push an object in any direction if no any external force is not applied on it (the ex of external forces are friction, etc) then the car will be continue in its motion for ever never get stoped. And if rest then it will be continue to stay in rest for ever if any force is not applied on it. That is the law of inertia.
