Step-by-step explanation:

1 st - 70 Inches

2 rd - 72 Inches

3 rd - 74 Inches

4 th - 80 Inches

let 1 st be a , 2nd be b , 3rd be c ,&4th be d

a = a

b = a + 2

c = b + 2 = a + 2 + 2

d = c + 6 = a+2+6

thus,

74=(a+b+c+d)/4

74=(a+a+2+a+2+a+2+2+2+6)/4

74=(4a+16)/4

74=a+4

a=70

Thus,

b=a+2=70+2=72

c=a+2+2+2=70+2+2=74

d=a+2+2+6=70+2+2+6=80

Given,

Average heights of four brothers= 74 inches

The difference in height of the first three men= 2 inches

Difference between third and fourth man=6 inches

To find,

The heights of each brother among the four brothers

Solution,

We can solve this problem by following the steps below

Let the height of the first man A who is shortest among them be 'x'.

Let A, B, C, and D be their names respectively.

Average heights of A, B, C, and D= \frac{(A+B+C+D)}{4}

                                   \frac{(A+B+C+D)}{4} = 74 inches

A= x

B= A+2 = x+2

C= B+2 = x+2+2=x+4

D= C+6 =x+2+2+6 = x+10

                                    \frac{(A+B+C+D)}{4} = \frac{x+x+2+x+4+x+10}{4}

                                                      = \frac{4x+16}{4} =74 inches

                                           4x+16 = 74 × 4

                                           4x +16= 296

                                                 4x= 296-16

                                                     = 280

                                                   x = 280÷4

                                                      = 70 inches

A= x     = 70

B= x+2 = 70+2=72

C= x+4 = 70+4= 74

D= x+10= 70+10=80

(Note: Average height in this problem is calculated by the Sum of the heights of all divided by the total number of persons whose average height is calculated.

Or in other words, Average= Sum value ÷ Number)

Thus, the heights of the four brothers who live next to me have their actual heights from the short to the tallest are 70, 72, 74, 80 inches.
