nh3 is strong base but nf3 is does not show any basic property. explain​

  • A Lewis base must have an electron pair that can be donated to the Lewis acid.  
  • NF3 consists of the fluorine ion, which is the most electronegative ion. The fluorine ion tends to pull the lone pair of electrons away from the N.
  • Thus, it decreases the electron density surrounding N.
  • Hence, unlike NH3, there are no electron pairs that can be donated to the Lewis acid.
