The same gas will be obtained by the heating of Ammonium Nitrate (NH4NO2).
- The heating of ammonium dichromate {(NH4)2Cr2O7} liberates Nitrogen gas:
(NH4)2Cr2O7 + Heat → N2 + Cr2O3 + 4 H2O
- When we heat ammonium nitrate, then the same gas, i.e., nitrogen will be obtained as follows:
NH4NO2 + Heat → N2 + 2 H2O
- Pure nitrogen gas can be obtained by heating barium azide, Ba(N3)2.
- Apart from these, nitrogen gas can be obtained by the oxidation of ammonia by bromine water and by the oxidation of ammonia by hot cupric oxide, etc.
