Answer:

  • NH₄OH = Weak Base
  • HCl = Strong Acid

NH₄OH + HCl is a reaction of Weak Base and Strong Acid. Since it is an Acid-Base reaction, neutralisation reaction takes place. This results in formation of salt and water.

Since the reactant has more acidic nature and less basic nature, the salt formed is also more acidic and less basic due to which it is called acidic salt.

Reaction:

NH₄OH + HCl → NH₄Cl + H₂0

Extra Information:

  • Strong Acid + Strong Base = Neutral Salt
  • Strong Acid + Weak Base = Acidic Salt
  • Strong Base + Weak Acid = Basic Salt
  • Weak Base + Weak Acid = No Reaction
