Generally tungsten would not make a good heating element because it will oxidize at red hot temperatures and eventually burn out unless protected from oxygen in the air by sealing in an inert gas atmosphere. Tungsten is very strong and brittle, thus not very malleable so it would be difficult to form into any complex shapes. Complex shapes would be limited to what could be processed from powdered tungsten in a compression form die and sintered, or cut from sheet blanks. Tungsten is more expensive than nichrome and most other commonly used heating element materials. Tungsten has relatively good electrical conductivity and poor electrical resistance which may cause a need to control amperes limit.
